AboutMiningCrypto.com was a project that I embarked on from 2020 to 2022, focusing on sharing my experiences and insights into the world of cryptocurrency mining. As someone who had been involved in crypto since 2010, I wanted to create a platform where I could pass on my knowledge and help others navigate the complexities of mining cryptocurrencies.

Technologies Used:

AboutMiningCrypto.com aim was to be a valuable resource for individuals looking to dive into the world of crypto mining and leverage their resources effectively. While the project is no longer active, it stands as a testament to my dedication and expertise in the crypto mining domain during the period from 2020 to 2022.

  • Content Management System (CMS): Joomla 3.x
    • AboutMiningCrypto.com was built using Joomla 3.x, a robust and versatile CMS. Joomla provided a user-friendly interface and a wide range of extensions that allowed for flexible content management and customization of the website.
  • Templating Framework: Gantry 5
    • Gantry 5 was utilized as the templating framework for AboutMiningCrypto.com. This powerful framework offered advanced layout and design capabilities, allowing for the creation of visually appealing and responsive templates.
  • Enhanced Content Management: K2
    • K2, an extension for Joomla, was employed for enhanced content management on AboutMiningCrypto.com. This extension provided additional features and flexibility for organizing and presenting content, allowing for a seamless user experience.
  • Local Development Environment: XAMPP
    • XAMPP, a widely used local web development environment, was utilized for developing AboutMiningCrypto.com. This suite offered a complete development stack, including Apache, MySQL, PHP, and phpMyAdmin, enabling efficient local testing and development of the website.
  • Cryptocurrency Data Integration: Coinlib.io API
    • AboutMiningCrypto.com integrated the Coinlib.io API to host its own cryptocurrency information in a database. This API allowed for real-time retrieval and storage of cryptocurrency data, providing visitors with up-to-date information on various coins and tokens.

The combination of Joomla 3.x CMS, Gantry 5 templating, K2 content management, XAMPP for local development, and Coinlib.io API integration played a crucial role in the development and functionality of AboutMiningCrypto.com. These technologies enabled the creation of a dynamic and informative platform for sharing insights and experiences related to cryptocurrency mining.

The knowledge and experience gained from this project have further solidified my understanding of the cryptocurrency landscape and continue to shape my current work.

SkateHartlepool.co.uk (2010-13)

Overview: SkateHartlepool.co.uk was a project I worked on from 2010 to 2013, aimed at promoting skateboarding in my hometown. While the project unfortunately came to an end due to financial constraints and career aspirations at the time, it remains a testament to my passion for skateboarding and web development.

  • Local Web Development Suite: XAMPP WAMP Stack
    • The XAMPP WAMP Stack served as the foundation for developing the SkateHartlepool.co.uk website locally. This suite provided a reliable environment for creating and refining Joomla templates before deploying them online.
  • Content Management System (CMS): Joomla 3.x
    • SkateHartlepool.co.uk was built using Joomla 3.x, a powerful and versatile CMS. Joomla’s user-friendly interface and extensive range of extensions allowed me to customize the website’s functionality and design to suit the specific needs of promoting skateboarding in Hartlepool.
  • Web Hosting: Bluehost.com
    • Bluehost.com was the chosen web hosting provider for SkateHartlepool.co.uk. Their reliable hosting services ensured the website remained accessible to users during its active period.
  • Joomla Social Network Plugin: JomSocial
    • To create a vibrant community around skateboarding, SkateHartlepool.co.uk integrated JomSocial, a Joomla social network plugin. This plugin enabled users to connect, share media, and engage in discussions, fostering a sense of belonging within the skateboarding community.
  • Google API for SkateMap
    • The SkateMap functionality within SkateHartlepool.co.uk utilized the Google API to integrate the interactive map feature. By leveraging the Google Maps API, users could drop placemarks, tag photos and videos, and explore skateboarding spots in Hartlepool. Although challenges were encountered during implementation, the integration of Google API added a dynamic element to the website.

SkateHartlepool.co.uk had the primary purpose of promoting skateboarding in my hometown, providing news updates on events, skatepark information, and fostering a sense of community among skateboarders.

One notable feature of the website was the integration of a social hub using JomSocial, a Joomla social network plugin. This feature aimed to create a Facebook-like environment, allowing users to share media and videos related to skateboarding, thereby fostering engagement and collaboration within the skateboarding community.

An ambitious project within SkateHartlepool.co.uk was the development of a functional SkateMap. This feature allowed users to drop placemarks onto a Google Map, storing the locations in a database, and enabling users to tag photos and videos to specific skate spots within the SkateMap. While this endeavor posed challenges and was not fully realized as intended, it remains an innovative concept that has yet to be fully achieved by an English company.

SkateHartlepool.co.uk symbolizes my dedication to promoting skateboarding and harnessing web technologies to create a platform for skateboarding enthusiasts. Although the project had its limitations, it served as a stepping stone for my growth as a web developer and fostered my passion for combining technology with recreational interests.

SkateHartlepool.co.uk represented a combination of Joomla’s robust CMS capabilities, the power of JomSocial for community building, and the integration of Google API to enhance the SkateMap feature. These technologies collectively provided a platform for showcasing skateboarding events, fostering interaction among skateboarders, and exploring skate spots in Hartlepool.
