From Volunteer to Software Developer: A Success Story

How TheITApprentice Helped me achieve my dream of becoming a Software Developer

I am excited to share with you my journey of how TheITApprentice played a vital role in helping me build a strong portfolio and technical skills which ultimately helped me land a position as a Software Developer. When I first started, I was eager to dive into the world of software development but it was so much to digest that I did not know where to begin.

I discovered TheITApprentice on LinkedIn and they hired me as a C# developer although I had no skills in that programming language. However, with Andy’s guidance and resources I was able to learn the language and help contribute to their projects. This hands on experience was gained through working on various projects involving network operations, I/O processing, and Renci.SSH.

One of the standout tools I worked on was building a remote command execution tool which used WinRM, SSH and PowerShell. This practical exposure not only solidified my understanding of these technologies but also allowed me to add it as a experience to my portfolio showcasing my skills effectively.

When it came time for interviews, the assessors were particularly impressed with my experience and the projects I had worked on. The depth of knowledge I demonstrated with programming made me stand out more from the rest of the crowd. Thanks to TheITApprentice, I was able to confidently showcase my capabilities and ultimately secure my job.
